It's been an unusual spring to say the least but our younger Lake Effect Athletics teams have been back in action starting off their seasons.
Our Lake Effect 10U team started their season off in April over in Kalamazoo in a one-day tournament taking 2nd place in the gold bracket. They recently traveled to South Bend, Indiana where they were rained out the first day and then on day 2 play 4 games finishing in 3rd place overall. Last weekend, they were back in action in Elkart, Indiana in a tough tournament facing great competition. They came up a little short in the end but played 5 games on Saturday and another 3 on Sunday morning before finsihing in 4th place. The girls were exhausted but built their stamina and confidence in a lot of areas. The team has had some ups and downs but they have seen a lot of growth within their team and are excited to see how the season unfolds.
Our Lake Effect 12U team is our newest team to our organization. They are a first year team, a mix of 11 and 12 year olds, but have been growing steadily so far this spring. They have had to change their schedule a few times already due to age brackets or tournaments being cancelled but are making the best of it. They have played in three tournaments so far and have fallen just a little short facing some great competition in each of their tournaments. Excited to see this team continue to grow and where they will go as the season progresses!
Our Lake Effect 13U - Black team have had the opportunity to play in three events so far. Their first tournament was a one day tournament in Byron Center, faced some good competition and fell short that day. They were able to turn things around going into the USSSA Ada Covered Bridge tournament on May 13-15 finishing the weekend with a 2nd place finish. They then played in the USSSA Memorial Day Showdown finishing in 3rd place overall on the weekend.
