Spring of 2023 is off to a great start with our high school aged athletes crushing it within their high school programs and our younger athletes starting strong with their seasons!
A few highlights so far:
Our new 8U Lake Effect Athletics team is currently 7-2 this spring with a 2nd place finish in their first tournament of the season at Elite Softball and Training Facility losing in the championship game by only 1 run! They then traveled to Owosso, MI to the Hit and Pitch Spring Tune-Up and went 4-0 outscoring their opponents 50-20. These ladies were a little disappointed when their Sugar Beets Spring Fling tournament was cancelled in Saginaw, MI due to the rain but these ladies will be back on the field May 27-28th in the Jenison Memorial Day Bash.
Our 10U Lake Effect Athletics team is currently 7-3 this spring. They started their season off at the USSSA Interlakes Spring Opener in Commerce, MI and went 3-2 finishing in 3rd place. They then competed in the GameDay Wonder Woman Bash in Rockford, MI and brought home the Championship after a hard fought extra-innings championship game! They went 4-1 on the weekend outscoring their opponents 57-18. They will be back on the field competing this weekend, May 12-14 at the USSSA Ada Covered Bridge tournament in Ada, MI.
Our 11U Lake Effect Athletics team is currently 10-9 and facing some good competion in the 12U age division. Their first tournament was the Hit and Pitch Spring Tune Up in Owosso, MI where in pool play, they started out strong with a 2-0 record but faced a tough team the first round of bracket. They were back in action again at the GameDay Wonder Woman Bash in Rockford, MI and finished the weekend with a 4-2 record and brought home 2nd place after falling short in the championship game to a very solid 12U team. They will be back in action on May 19-21 in South Bend, IN at the Backyard Bash.
Our 12U Lake Effect Athletics team is on a hot streak with a 9-1 record this spring. Their season also started at the Hit and Pitch Spring Tune-Up in Owosso, MI and went 5-0 bringing home the Championship!! They outscored their opponents 57-27 on the weekend! They then hit the field at the Peace, Love and Softball tournament held in Rockford, MI and started out strong but fell just a little short in the semi-final game with a 3rd place finish and a 4-1 record for the weekend. Their bats have been on fire and they again outscored their opponents 53-19. These ladies will be competing again this weekend, May 12-14 at the USSSA Ada Covered Bridge tournament in Ada, MI.
Overall - A LOT of GREAT softball is being played this spring and these young ladies have been so fun to watch! Check out their upcoming schedules and we will see you at the ball park!!!
